Arrangements for free accommodation and food for poor patients coming from far away villages in big government hospitals.
In large government hospitals, it’s common to see poor, destitute, and helpless people traveling from remote villages, countryside, and farmlands to seek treatment for their sick family members. These people have neither accommodation in the city nor the money to stay in a hotel or lodge. Many patients and their relatives are forced to spend the night on floors, in hospital verandas, under trees, or on the road outside the hospital. This scene is heartbreaking. In such circumstances, providing free accommodation and food to these patients would undoubtedly be a great reward and a significant service to humanity.
Thousands of patients arrive daily at major government hospitals in cities, such as district hospitals, medical college hospitals, and specialty hospitals. A large portion of these patients are from the poor, who earn their living through farming, labor, or menial jobs. When they need treatment, they travel many kilometers to the city. While hospitals provide free treatment, the challenges of accommodation, food, and basic amenities can be more distressing than the patient’s illness itself. Many people go hungry all night or sleep under the open sky, along with their children, which contributes to further illness.
If free accommodation is established near the hospital, it could provide relief to people. The facilities should include clean rooms, comfortable bedding, toilets, and bathrooms, allowing the relatives accompanying the patients to stay comfortably. The accommodation should be managed with utmost decorum and integrity, so that every visitor feels treated with respect and courtesy.
Additionally, free food is crucial. People who come from far away often have no utensils, no stoves, and no money. Providing breakfast, lunch, and dinner would be a great source of relief and comfort. Light and soft meals will also be prepared for the patients.
This kind of service not only eases the patient’s burden but also makes their treatment journey easier. When the patient’s companion is free from the worries of accommodation and food, they can devote themselves to caring for the patient wholeheartedly. This will speed up their recovery.
In a time of growing selfishness, such noble acts keep humanity alive. Poor patients and their families, who come from far away, seek not just treatment but also love, compassion, and human sympathy. If we can provide them with these, it will be a beautiful effort to improve society.
